Biography

Ben Bregman is from a family of artists. Both sides of his family immigrated to Los Angeles in the 1950s back when you could get from downtown to the beach in 20 minutes. He always loved nature and flowers, getting in trouble for picking blooms as a child. He participated in a number of exhibitions during college and in the years after. He earned his BFA among the Redwood forests and wildlife at U. C Santa Cruz including a year abroad living in Madrid. His surrealistic watercolor, “watch out” was selected by Barbara Haskell curator-painting and sculpture at the Whitney Museum of New York City as one of 32 pieces out of over 700 submissions for the Exemplary Contempor’y at the Eloise Pickard Smith Gallery exhibit in Santa Cruz. He was one of only three students featured in the exhibit.  Mr. Bregman was one of the participating artists at the Slug Show in 2005 at the Highways art center in Santa Monica, California.
